Tara Rokpa therapy brings together Eastern and Western understandings of the mind and how we can work with our lives in the 21st Century.
Tara Rokpa therapy is the work of Dr. Akong Rinpoche and a group of western trained therapists. Akong Rinpoche is Tibetan and he is highly trained and accomplished in medicine, meditation and in working therapeutically with those who seek his help.
"Tara" in Tibetan is the very essence of compassionate activity and "Rokpa" means "help where help is needed".
Individual sessions are based on the components of relaxation, visualisation, using art and writing materials, as well as talking and listening. At heart is the basic certainty that everyone has a central, unchanging core of wellness and a potential that is also our capacity for growth, creativity and transformation.
This more spacious view of ourselves and our constructed realities allows for a less solid idea of who we are and thus enables change.
