I have been a UKCP registered psychotherapist since 1996 and a counsellor since 1994. I have extensive experience of working with children, teenagers, young adults and adults. I qualified as a supervisor in 2002 and I have since supervised psychotherapists and counsellors.
My Psychotherapy, Counselling and Supervision orientation is Psychosynthesis that is, a model that facilitates personal and transpersonal development. Psychosynthesis is designed to unpack unconscious processes and understand and make sense of the different sub-personalities as individuals we relate from. By recognising these different parts of the ‘self’ it is then possible to make choices that enhance personal development, growth and potential.
The philosophy of Psychosynthesis is influenced by psychoanalytical, existential, behavioural and gestalt theories and practice. Psychosynthesis provides an opportunity to understand and make sense of emotional crisis. Individual emotional crisis emerges unexpectedly in different forms and at different times in life. This emotional crisis is often triggered by defence mechanisms that are reinforced from birth and can fragment at different points in life due to pressure and/or change.
I work with clients with a diverse range of concerns such as crisis of meaning, depression, relationships, spiritual crisis, bereavement, child sexual abuse, rape, domestic violence, post-traumatic stress, physical health, sexuality and anxiety.
I can offer psychotherapy, counselling and supervision.
