I am a member of the BACP and my work adheres to their ethical code and guidelines.
I have a profound faith in the infinite worth of the human person and passionate about using my skills, knowledge and experience to help release potential in individuals and organizations.
As a black woman psychotherapist, in both my personal and professional journeys I have always tried to create inclusive environments where everyone was able to work and learn in an atmosphere of respect, dignity, and acceptance.
I became a UKCP registered Gestalt Psychotherapist in 1997 and have been a drama therapist since 1991.
I work primarily from a Gestalt perspective which is a highly positive and practical integrative therapeutic approach. Gestalt is a German word. The closest translation is ‘whole’, ‘pattern’ or ‘form’. It has the sense that meaning cannot be found from breaking things down into parts but rather from appreciation of the whole. In other words, Gestalt is a holistic process. It regards the individual as a totality of mind, body, emotions and spirit who experiences reality in a way unique to themselves.
Broadly, as a Gestalt psychotherapist I help people to focus on their immediate thoughts, feelings and behaviour and to better understand the way they relate to others. This increased awareness can help people to find a new perspective, see the bigger picture and start to effect changes.
I offer teenagers, young adults, adults and families a safe and supportive space where they express and explore their thoughts and feelings in relation to themselves and their environment.
Throughout my journey I’ve had the desire to grow as a person, to release the possibilities within myself and to have the privilege of working alongside others in facilitating their own unfoldment. I do this with a positive and enthusiastic approach.
