Everyone has their own reason for starting their therapy journey: either feeling stuck, desiring to change but not knowing how or simply wanting to explore oneself. Whatever brings you to therapy, my approach is to walk along with you in exploring your needs, struggles and simply you. In my experience, exploring oneself brings more peace with oneself, and helps one to have more fulfilling relationships with others. l am also aware of how our background and culture play a significant role in shaping our identities, which is another focus in exploring with my clients if they wish to.
I work relationally based on psychodynamic and person-centred approaches. This means that l am interested in exploring how our early life experiences might have shaped our present self and how we relate to others. It is my ethical responsibility to offer a safe and trusting therapeutic space. Empathic and non-judgmental listening are the keys to my approach.
While l work with clients with a variety of struggles such as depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief and existential questions, it is my experience and privilege to see these issues lose their intensity and clients would like to explore themselves further and feel closer to themselves, beyond their struggles.
l have 8 years of client experience from various ages and backgrounds. I also hold a Clinical Psychology degree along with a Counselling and Psychotherapy diploma, which helps me to have a better understanding of mental health and work more holistically with my clients. While I prefer to work on a long-term weekly basis, I am open to working both short and long periods, fortnightly or monthly checking, based on what you need. The length of sessions is 60 minutes. I offer a sliding scale between £50 and £65, and you can decide your session fee based on your financial circumstances. I offer a reduced fee (£30) for the first full session.
