Reflexology is an ancient therapy that was practiced thousands of years ago by the Chinese and Egyptians. It is a therapy based on the theory that all the organs, glands and systems of the body have corresponding reflex points in the feet. Like a mini map of the body on the feet. By stimulating these reflexes, a treatment can clear congestion in a particular area and maintain a healthy balance in mind and body. It is a holistic therapy to help to heal the whole person, physical and emotional well-being, and not just the prevailing symptoms.
Reflexology is suitable for all ages. For every stage of your life from trying to conceive, giving birth, babies and children, adults with health problems and the elderly. This natural complementary therapy is a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Many people use reflexology as a way of reducing stress and relaxing the mind and body as well as helping common ailments.
A reflexology session lasts for around an hour. At the initial appointment there is a consultation form to be filled in. You will then lie on a treatment couch and remove your footwear. Firm but gentle pressure is applied to each reflex area in turn, tender areas may indicate congestion or an imbalance in the corresponding part of your body.
Some people may experience a healing reaction after their treatment; this can include runny nose or headaches. This is the body’s way of eliminating waste products. Depending on which healing state the body is in. Others might feel energised and/or uplifted.
Reflexology used for a specific condition, may require 6-8 treatments for maximum benefit. It is generally recommended to receive reflexology on a regular basis, for example, once every two weeks or monthly as a preventative therapy.
Benefits could be:
- Reducing stress,
- Improve circulation and lymph flow

- Preventative~ Regular treatments may improve immune system, reducing colds etc.
Please NOTE:
Reflexology is not a massage technique, and it isn’t medicine. The reflexology therapist cannot diagnose or treat specific illness.
